We would like to thank our sponsors for their help and support. We deal exclusively with them and have chosen them for their commitment to quality, excellence, and value.  (Their willingness to support us plays a small part as well.)  If you are in the market for a motorcycle, or accessories, you can't go wrong dealing with our sponsors.  Check out our sponsors page for more information.
We are proud to announce our decision to support Casey Cycle City and their efforts to support the Virginia Championship Hare Scramble Series and the sport of motorcycling in general.  I began riding in the early 70's and Casey Cycle City was my favorite place to be.  The dealership has a special place in our hearts and we will go the extra mile to throw our support their way.
Special thanks to HTML.COM:  Without them this web page would not be possible.  We have created this page on our own, so if you don't like it, don't blame them :).  Our site has NEVER been offline while being hosted by HTML.COM.  Three years of solid un-interupted service AND each member of our team has their own email address.  Click on their logo for more information.  If you don't know how to develop a web page they will help you.  Great People!

BonafeRacing is located in Powhatan Virginia and all of the team members are looking forward to the 2004 season of racing which begins in March.  We had a good year in 2003.  Check our results pages for more.

Racing motorcycles is considered by some to be a dangerous activity however we have found that racing harescrambles is very safe and offers our family an activity we can all participate in.  Hare Scrambles is a form of motorcycle racing that takes place over a cross country course.  Speeds are typically between 5 and 65 miles per hour with the fastest riders averaging around 20 mph. The higher speeds occur on wide open dirt roads sometimes called "Fire Roads".  Before you get to worried about the 65mph top speed, I  assure you that only the best run at that speed.  When you are on a dirt road 40 mph is scary.

As a Senior B (Age 45 and older) rider my speeds almost never exceed 45 mph.  I try to make up time in the woods.  High speed sections  do not occur frequently and are not included in courses set up for younger riders (Age 4 to 11). That is not a typo, Children as young as 4 have a place in the sport.  We race in a series organized by the Virginia Championship Hare Scramble Series (VCHSS).  The series supports a Horizon Riders Organization designed to help young children learn how to safely participate in the sport.  If you would like more information about the series find us on the web at www.vchss.org .

Most of the course is set up to run through trails in the woods. The width of the trail varies from 24" (very tight, handle bars won't even fit) to 20 feet (wide open and fast). Arrows are placed on trees and stakes to guide you as you make your way around the course. The length of the course varies with the location of the race. It is dependent on the land available but is usually in the 6 to 14 mile range for the main event which runs for two hours. The PeeWee and Jr. Mini classes (Age 4 to 11) usually have about a 1 to 1-1/2 mile lap and run for about 15 minutes while the Minis, Women, and Masters classes run a shorter version of the main course and run for about an hour.
We have made a lot of friends in this sport. During the racing season we have the opportunity to camp out at the races. As a family we enjoy time with our children without the interruptions of everyday life. We spend time around the campfire with our friends.  We all tell
war stories from previous years.  Sometimes the old timers will give us valuable tips.  Things like "Don't Fall.....Go Faster...." and other very helpful pieces of advice.  We are all looking forward to the next day's races.  We go to sleep dreaming of being the first one in to the woods.

We are also members of the Tidewater Dirt Riders.  This is a club dedicated to providing a family oriented riding experience.  If you live in the Tidewater Area and are interested look us up on the web at www.tidewaterdirtriders.org

The 2003 series will include 15 events, scattered throughout Virginia with one event to be held at Budds Creek in Maryland.  Of these, 13 events will be used for calculating the riders final standings for the season.  We plan to attend all of the races and hope to see you there.
